What’s the DJ.Studio upgrade policy from version 3 to 4 – free, reduced cost, or a new license?#

If you bought DJ.Studio within the last 12 months before a major release like 4.0, you receive that major release as part of your included updates. After your 12 months end, the app keeps working forever on your machine, and you can optionally purchase an Update Package to keep getting new major releases and support for another year. The Update Package is currently $49. You do not need to buy a brand-new full license to keep receiving updates.

Is there a one-time price for DJ.Studio, or do you pay for each upgrade/revision?#

We offer a one-time license that gives you a perpetual license on up to two machines and 12 months of updates and support. After that, the app continues to run normally. To continue receiving new major releases and support, you can buy the optional $49 Update Package for another 12 months. Minor updates tied to your last major version (bug fixes and security updates) remain available even after the period ends.

After the first year of DJ.Studio updates expires, do I need to buy the full version again to keep getting updates?#

No. Keep using your current version forever. If you want new major releases and support again, just purchase the Update Package (currently $49) for another year.

Are DJ.Studio's paid extensions (e.g., Elastique Pro) one-time licenses or subscription/paid per major upgrade?#

Extensions are separate add-ons you can try and purchase inside the app. They aren’t included in the one-time DJ.Studio license and are managed in Settings → Billing. Extension availability and terms are shown at purchase inside the app.

Do I get the update to DJ.Studio version 4 automatically, or do I need to manually upgrade?#

While 4.0 is in DJ.Studio Next (pre-release), you can install it alongside 3.1 and choose when to use it. When 4.0 becomes the official stable, your main (black) DJ.Studio app will update to 4.0. You can control auto-download vs manual updates in Settings → General.

Is there a trial version of DJ.Studio 4.0, and what exactly does the trial include?#

Yes – there’s a free trial that currently provides 7 days of access to Pro + Stems functionality. Exporting is disabled during the trial. Details and availability may change, so check the trial page for the latest.

Can I downgrade from DJ.Studio 4.0 back to a previous version if needed?#

During the Next period you can run 3.1 and 4.0 Next side by side, so you can fall back to 3.1 any time. Once 4.0 replaces 3.1 as the stable release, projects that use new 4.0 features may not be backward-compatible with 3.1. Keep backups if you plan to switch between versions.

Roughly how much could copyright/licensing cost for a mix with ~56 songs?#

If you use Beatport/Beatsource streaming while creating, you’ll need to Legalize & Export to purchase any tracks you don’t own before exporting. Your cost equals the store price per track × number of tracks you need to buy, plus any taxes. Prices are set by the stores, not DJ.Studio, so totals vary – the Legalize flow builds a cart for you and you complete checkout on the store.

Will you email details on how to become a certified DJ.Studio coach?#

We’ll announce coaching and certification opportunities via newsletter, YouTube, social channels, and in-app notifications. Make sure you’re subscribed and logged in to see announcements.

What DJ.Studio plans/tiers are offered and what are the prices?#

Plans currently shown on our pricing page include Studio, Pro, Pro + Stems, and Ultimate (feature differences include stems, video export, Ableton Live export, and VST support at the higher tiers). We offer both one-time licenses (with 12 months of updates and support) and monthly subscriptions. Prices can vary by currency and promotion, so please check the live pricing page for the most accurate numbers.

Quick DJ.Studio Pricing Tiers differences at a glance#

  • Perpetual license on two machines + 12 months of updates/support included. Optional $49 yearly Update Package thereafter.

  • Extensions (like Elastique Pro) are separate in-app purchases.

  • Free trial: 7 days, exporting disabled.

  • Legalize & Export buys missing tracks from Beatport/Beatsource for you to export mixes legally.

How many computers can I use DJ.Studio on?#

Your one-time license can be used on two machines simultaneously. You can install on up to five unique devices within 90 days – manage active devices in Settings → Account.

Does the free trial require a credit card, and does it auto-renew?#

No payment details are required. The 7-day trial ends automatically and does not convert into a subscription.

Why can’t I export during the trial?#

Exporting and sharing are disabled in the trial. Upgrade to a paid plan to enable export.

What happens when my trial ends?#

You’ll be prompted to purchase a monthly or one-time license. Without purchasing, you can’t use DJ.Studio or access mixes until you activate a plan.

Will my one-time license auto-renew?#

No. One-time licenses do not auto-renew. Some invoices show a “non-renewing subscription” label, but nothing renews automatically.

How do updates work after the first year?#

Keep using your version forever. To receive new major releases and support again, purchase the Update Package ($49) for another 12 months. Minor updates tied to your last major version continue.

How do I cancel a monthly subscription?#

In the app go to Settings → Billing → Manage payments, choose your subscription, and click Cancel. It stays active until the end of the billing period; monthly payments aren’t refundable.

What’s your refund policy on one-time licenses?#

There’s a 14-day money-back guarantee on one-time licenses (no questions asked).

Do you offer student/teacher or military discounts?#

Yes. Students and teachers save 20% on the one-off license by emailing proof to support; approvals typically within 48 hours. Military discounts are handled through the same channel.

Which currencies, taxes, and payment methods are supported?#

You can pay in USD, GBP, or EUR using major credit cards or PayPal. Prices on the page include any applicable taxes.

Where can I find my invoices?#

In the app: Settings → Account → Manage payments → Payments → View invoice. Or log in at cp.dj.studio to view and download invoices.

How do I move my license to a new computer?#

You don’t need the activation code again. Install DJ.Studio and sign in with the same provider and email used originally. Remember to copy your Music/DJ.Studio folder if you want your mixes.

Can I use DJ.Studio offline?#

Yes. After the first sign-in/authorization, DJ.Studio supports offline mode. An internet connection is still required for initial install, account creation, and any streaming integrations.

Can I upgrade to a higher plan later?#

Yes—you can upgrade by paying the price difference between plans.

Do you have team licensing?#

Yes—Team Billing simplifies managing 5+ licenses under one account with special pricing.

Does DJ.Studio include Mixed In Key?#

No—Mixed In Key is separate. Entering a MIK VIP code with your DJ.Studio purchase gives you an extra month of updates/support.

How do I export legally if I used streaming tracks?#

Use Export → Legalize Mix to purchase any tracks you don’t own from Beatport/Beatsource, then export. A Beatport Streaming Advanced or Professional plan is required for Beatport streaming integration.

Do you have a referral program?#

Yes—share your link from Settings → Billing → Share the love. Your friend gets 15% off a one-off license; you receive a $30 payout (up to 10 successful referrals; payouts begin 30 days after purchase)
